Senator Burr opens Intelligence hearing with social media representatives

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr of North Carolina starts a hearing with general counsels from Facebook, Twitter and Google that stories do not simplify so easily to selectively identify a piece of information and extrapolate to a whole story, disputes stories that Russian linked accounts were targeted at Wisconsin or Michigan, pivotal states in the 2016 election outcome, noting many more ads were targeted at Maryland. Burr notes that the media was correct that more such as ran in 2015 than throughout the presidential campaign season, saying the media had failed to detail thousands or hundreds of dollars spent on social media ad campaigns prior to the election, such as just $300 in Pennsylvania, which he calls an incredibly complex story.
