NORTH WILKESBORO, NC — April 17, 1966: The field gets set for the start of the Gwyn Staley 400 NASCAR Cup race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Jim Paschal won the pole in Tom Friedkin’s 1966 Plymouth and went on to win the race, leading 308 of the 400 laps. David Pearson starts the Cotton Owens 1966 Dodge Charger from the outside pole and would go on to finish third.
