Charles Enderby (1798-1876)
Charles Enderby (1798-1876), Charles Enderby was the grandson of Samuel Enderby (1717-1797), founder of the Samuel Enderby & Sons Company - a prominent British sealing and whaling firm, which Charles and his two brothers inherited when their father died. In 1830 Charles became a founding member of the Royal Geographical Society and served on the council on several occasions. There is no official date for this image, possibly taken circa 1860.
