NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 1975: English rock singer songwriter, musician, and band leader Ian Hunter (Ian Hunter Patterson) poses for a portrait on November, 1975 in New York City, New York. Ian Hunter's band, Mott the Hoople, was an iconic staple of the 1970's 'glam rock' genre, and charted a huge success on both sides of the Atlantic with the anthemic rock ballad, 'All the Young Dudes' in 1973, a song written and produced for the group by rocker David Bowie. Ian Hunter as pursued a solo career of well-received solo albums, with contributions from rock pioneers and cutting edge artists including drummer Ringo Starr, guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Jaco Pastorius, members of the rock group Queen, and vanquard rock producers/musicians including Todd Rundgren, Roy Thomas Baker, and John Cale. In 1997, Ian Hunter's rock song 'Cleveland Rocks' was selected as a theme song for the hit TV series 'The Drew Carey Show' and has become an anthem for the major Ohioan city at sports events and politcal campaigns.
