Machines use yellow cakes to produce Uranium hexafluoride (UF6) at the Iranian Isfahan Uranium Conversion Facilities (UCF), 420 kms south of Tehran, 03 February 2007. Uranium hexafluoride (UF6) referred to as "hex" in industry, is a compound used in the uranium enrichment process that produces fuel for nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons. Iran's envoy to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, who guided diplomats and journalists around the site, showed the IAEA's manitoring cameras installed in the heart of the plant where uranium hexafluoride (UF6), the feed gas for uranium enrichment is produced.
