Marathi women protest against female infanticide in India

Marathi women perform a folk dance protesting against female infanticide in India and dedicated to the Goddess Durga and the empowerment of women and girls in India. India and China are the leading countries responsible for the maximum number of deaths, eliminating more girls than the number of girls born in America. The 2013 census shows there are 940 females for every 1000 males in India. Haryana is the worst hit state, with the lowest sex ratio of 877 females per 1000 males.
