AMMAN, JORDAN: Members of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood group lead a demonstration by around 600 people in the Jordanian capital Amman 09 February 2004 against the separation barrier Israel is building across the West Bank. The protest, organised by a coalition of 13 opposition parties, included several MPs from the Islamic Action Front, members of the Communist Party, union leaders, students and representatives of women's groups. Israel insists that the barrier is necessary to prevent infiltrations on its soil by would-be attackers, while the Palestinians regard it as a little more than an attempt to pre-empt the borders of their promised state.
