Student activists demand desegregation of New York's public schools
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JANUARY 30: New York City public school students meet with board of education officials in a forum to address the slow progress being made in integrating the city's public school system on January 30, 2020 in New York City. Despite promises by both Mayor De Blasio and the school chancellor to make sweeping changes, New York City's schools remain some of the most segregated in the nation. Student activists demanded an immediate end to all metal detectors, a more equitable division of resources within the school system, and an end to standardized testing and other screening criteria in determining the admissions process.
