San Juan de Sabinas, MEXICO: Large amount of food is being cooked by volunteers to feed the hundreds of civilians who are helping to rescue the 65 miners trapped at the Pasta de Conchos coal mine 22 February, 2006 in San Juan de Sabinas, Coahuila state, Mexico. Hopes faded in northern Mexico as rescue teams dug deeper into a collapsed coal mine in an attempt to find 65 miners trapped there for more than three days following an explosion. The teams have been unable to use heavy machinery to dig a tunnel for fear of triggering another explosion due to gas inside the pit, which forced them to use shovels, picks and even their bare hands to reach the trapped workers.
