V&A Unveils Edinburgh Seven Tapestry For International Women's Day
LONDON, ENGLAND - MARCH 07: The Edinburgh Seven Tapestry, which was commissioned by Dovecot Studios hangs at the V&A on March 07, 2024 in London, England. The 'Edinburgh Seven,' the first female undergraduates at a British university, campaigned in 1869 to graduate as doctors. Although their own efforts were unsuccessful, they paved the way for women in medicine, leading to the 1876 Medical Act allowing women to be licensed. The Edinburgh Seven Tapestry was designed by artist Christine Borland and crafted by Dovecot Studios weavers from 90,500 meters of yarn. The piece will be on display at the Victoria and Albert museum until May 27. (Photo by Dan Kitwood/Getty Images)
