73rd Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy
A yellow rose left by visitors at the graves of fallen soldiers at the Normandy American Cemetery that contains the remains of 9,387 American military dead, most of whom were killed during the invasion of Normandy and ensuing military operations in World War II.
Tuesday 6th June is the 73rd anniversary of the D-Day landings which saw 156,000 troops from the allied countries including the United Kingdom and the United States join forces to launch an audacious attack on the beaches of Normandy.
