Agent Orange Victims Family
HANOI, VIETNAM - 2013/12/02: Pham Thi Duc, 58 holds her daughter after giving her a bath in their apartment in Hanoi. Duc is the wife of a war veteran, Nguyen Thanh Son, 62. In 1972, Mr. Son's squad was deployed in Quang Tri and he has been affected by agent orange ever since. Their two children have inherently been affected by the poisonous dioxin. Their daughter Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy has been totally paralysed, epileptic, blind, deaf and dumb since her birth in 1975. Their son Nguyen Thanh Tung, was born in 1979 with one blind eye and his other eye was very weak and he became totally blind at 12. The monthly stipend from the government of $80/month barely helps at all. After the end of the Vietnam War, Mr. Son has been working as a photographer to make ends meet since he is the only a bread winner of the family. (Photo by Chau Doan/LightRocket via Getty Images)
