Some galleries reopen as Covid-19 lockdown restrictions ease
Art lovers could enjoy "intimate" visits to some galleries from Monday as Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were eased. Some galleries with works on sale were able to welcome visitors as the UK started to lift restrictions on non-essential retail outlets.At the David Zwirner gallery in Mayfair, London, people could visit free of charge, by appointment - on condition they wore face masks while indoors. The gallery is currently showing collections by Paul Klee and Bridget Riley. Angela Choon, senior partner at the gallery, said: "The main mood that we would like is that people get the chance to come in and really have an intimiate experience."Now that we're open by appointment only, there'll be less people and you can really can take your time and go slowly and thoroughly through these exhibitions."
