Blackpool 'Golden Mile' development plans

Blackpool 'Golden Mile' development plans; ENGLAND: Blackpool: EXT GV 'Golden Mile' with Tower in background: BV People walking along Golden: Montage of fairground signs and notices: Interview with Shop keeper on Mile: Has been there 4 years - knew of plan when he came but it wasn't in operation then - it was to come in 8 years. Area needs development - but people around want fair compensation — not according to 'doings' - which is only 1938 prices. 2-shot interview with Gypsy Rose Lee (Fortune-teller) on Mile: tilt to her: Sideshows on the Golden Mile not a bad thing. Development scheme will not happen yet - will be 4-5 years before it does. GV Street of boarding houses: montage of vacancy notices: 3 shot - George Ffitch in street with two owners Landlady: She stands to lose £3,000 - bought house 12 years ago: must fight - nothing to fall back on — put all into house: 2-shot Landlord: Will lose £4,000 - knew of plan when he bought house. The Central Station was to be moved - that is not to be now, only the part for compulsory purchase of land - that is the gross unfairness. Took a gamble to some extent on original central station scheme. GV Golden Mile tilt to Harold Grimbledeston (Lord Mayor) with George Ffitch: They going to redevelop Golden Mile to be a pleasanter place for residents and visitors. Compensation is difficult matter - they're going to work on 1938 Act. Loaned money by Treasury. Will try to alleviate suffering to any person or persons.
