Iran fans hold anti-government protest during FIFA World Cup in Qatar

DOHA, QATAR - NOVEMBER 21: A group of Iranians held anti-government protest to raise their voice during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Monday. Iran fans carried banners and chanted slogans against government after the match against England. The Iranian national football team also refused to sing their national anthem before the match against England in the 2022 FIFA World Cup to protest the death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini. In addition, some sections of the Iranian fans at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar's Ar-Rayyan booed their own anthem for the same reason. Iran has been rocked by protests since mid-September after the custodial death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the country’s morality police for allegedly violating the Islamic dress code.
