Youth Climate Strike - NYC

NEW YORK, NY – DECEMBER 06, 2019: In light of the climate discussions by world leaders at the United Nations COP 25 in Madrid, Spain, NYC school students rallied in the civic area in downtown Manhattan. Demonstrators rallied at City Hall Park and marched to Foley Square chanting about environmental issues demanding that politicians, corporations, individual citizens, etc., take more effective action to guard the planet from pollution and global warming. This event also brings light on the subject of the Green New Deal which is a set of proposed economic stimulus programs in the United States that aims to address climate change and economic inequality. The school strike for climate (also known as Fridays for Future (FFF), Youth for Climate and Youth Strike 4 Climate) is an international movement of school students who are deciding not to attend classes and instead take part in demonstrations to demand action to prevent further global warming and climate change.
