Aftermath Of Easter Rising in Dublin

DUBLIN, IRELAND: A newsboy on O'Connell Bridge in Dublin holds up a poster proclaiming "The Sinn Fein Rebellion" following the 1916 Easter Rising launched by Irish Republicans against British rule. As civilians and uniformed officers with rifles walk along Sackville Street (later O'Connell Street), the battles of the suppressed rebellion are evident in the damaged and shelled buildings, and smoking ruins. The monument Nelson's Pillar stands at the head of the street with the O'Connell statue to the left (bombed by former IRA members in 1966). (Footage by IWM via Getty Images)
