RUSHES: Sir Keir Starmer interview

Sir Keir Starmer interview; ENGLAND: East London: Stratford: INT Sir Keir Starmer MP (Labour leader) interview SOT 2/2 Q: You've also talked about the need to reform public services, including the NHS. Yeah. How would you reform the NHS? Would you bring in private providers? A: Well, look, I mean, so far as the NHS is conformed, uh, concerned, uh, the reform I want to see, um, is to move our health as far as we can into our communities. So people access it earlier to have a preventative model so we can catch diseases, et cetera earlier. That's the unused technology in the NHS. This is desperately needed by the way. I mean, my wife works in the NHS, talk to anyone who works in the nhs. There is a staffing crisis. We've set out how we would change that over a short period of time and how we would pay for it. And so the message from Labour is the cavalry is coming under a labour government. Q: That isn't gonna pay for the number of nurses, doctors, teachers and infrastructure spending that you've talked about. A: Well, every commitment we've made is fully funded. And so when it comes to the health service, we've set out what we will do, the numbers that we would train, how soon we would bring them through, and how we would fund it. And we'll continue with that for every commitment that we made. Q: Yesterday the Prime Minister made five pledges to the public, would your pledges to the public be about your pr...
