Football is in DNA of our family, says Uruguayan football legend

URUGUAY - FEBRUARY 15: Uruguayan football legend Diego Forlan said having four Copa America championships in their family is a great honor. Speaking to Anadolu Agency in an exclusive interview on Monday (Feb. 15) Forlan stressed that they are the only family that has four cups of Copa America. “My grandfather passed away many years ago. He won the Copa America championship twice. My father also gained that success. My brother played football as well. He didn’t be a champion of Copa America but I did. My grandfather, father and I are the only family in the world have four Copa America,” he said. Forlan also said that his father, brother and he had Uruguay League championships. “In our family, my father, brother and I had Uruguay League championships. This is a great honor as well. Football is in the DNA of our family,” he added. Stating that the death of Maradona upset his family very much Forlan said: “He had too much contribution to football. I grew up watching his videos when I was children, witnessing his talent.” Uruguayan legend also said he was very happy when he played in his previous team Manchester United. He emphasized that he has no one to afraid to meet but Cannavaro, who has great experience and strong feelings, is one of the toughest defenders. “To be honest there was no one I was afraid to meet. Of course, I played against very successful defenders. But I could name Cannavaro among those. He has a great experience and his feelings are very strong,” he added. Evaluating the championship race in La Liga, Forlan stated that his former team Atletico Madrid had an important advantage. “If they maintain with this performance, they still have missing matches, they can open the score gap with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
