Clive Davis was president of Columbia Records from 1967 through 1973, where he signed and launched the careers of, amongst others, Janis Joplin, Laura Nyro, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Santana, Aerosmith, and Earth, Wind, and Fire. Clive Davis founded Arista Records in 1975, where he signed and launched the megacareers of Whitney Houston, Barry Manilow, and a dozen successful musical acts throughout the 70s and 80s. In the 1990s, Davis, with L.A. Reid and Babyface, founded LeFace Records (TLC, Usher, Pink) and, with Sean 'Puffy" Combs, Bad Boy Records (Notorious B.I.G., Mase, Faith Evans).
