(Original Caption) 9/12/1945-Carrizozok, NM: Here are Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer, l, University of California, and Maj. Gen. Leslie Groves, Chief of the Manhattan Engineering District looking at the base of the tower on which the Atomic bomb was suspended during the test explosion in the Oscura mountain range forty miles from here in mid-July. The men, wearing canvas coverings for their shoes to guard against radioactive sand particles, revisited the scene with reporters and photographers recently.
