Baloch Tribes Rebel Against Pakistani Government
KAHAN, PAKISTAN - JANUARY 31: Marri tribal guerrillas try to get radio signal with a rebel observation post while directing a mortar attack on a Pakistani troop outpost near Kahan on January 31, 2006 in the Pakistani province of Balochistan. The rebels fired dozens of mortars on Pakistani forces, who returned fire but missed guerrilla positions. The Marri and Bugti tribes have been battling Pakistani forces since December when rebels fired rockets during a visit by President Pervez Musharraf. Rebels say that the Pakistani government takes their region's gas and mineral reserves but gives little in return to Balochistan, the poorest province in Pakistan. Musharraf refers to the guerrillas as "miscreants." (Photo by John Moore/Getty Images)
