(Newport) Paul Hegness, in his Newport Beach office, holds a letter written by Upton Sinclair in 1929. Hegness is an attorney who bought a box of old papers at an auction that had been in the family of a dead Pasadena lawyer. Within the box was a letter that muckracker Upton Sinclair, a client of the attorneys, sent him declaring for posterity his doubts about the innocence of Boston s Sacco and Vanzetti, notorious anarchists executed in 1927 for killing a payroll guard.
