Takeshige Toyada Sitting in a Chair
(Original Caption) Scarfaced Takeshige Toyada, 27 year old leader of the ultra Nationalist Youth Martyr Corps in Japan, stands stolidly before the flag of the Rising Sun at the corps' headquarters in Tokyo. Toyada, who has been called the "Hitler of Japan," and four lieutenants of the organization were arrested by police in a predawn raid on the headquarters December 19th. They were accused of holding unregistered weapons and ammunition, violence and intimidation, and suspicion of illegal confinement of several persons. In an exclusive interview with the United Press recently, Toyada openly advocated a policy of violence and assassination in the "need" arises and said each member of his corps is ready to die to carry out its Nationalist aims.
