Senator Cotton and General Whiting discuss Iran's space launch vehicle program as flimsy cover for intercontinental ballistic missile capability at annual hearing
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton asks US Space Command General Stephen Whiting about Iran's space launch vehicle program, asking if Whiting has seen any Iranian astronauts up there lately, with Whiting responding they do not have a manned space flight. Cotton asked if maybe the Space Launch Vehicle program is just flimsy cover for an intercontinental missile, with Whiting responding he does think they were developing intercontinental ballistic missile capability. Cotton and Correll confirmed the reentry vehicle used for the missile going to Diego Garcia and the medium range missiles shot at Israel would be suitable, and all you would have to do in a crude but functioning fashion is marry those two technologies and Iran would be able to strike the United States at an annual Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on his command's posture.
