Northern Ireland devolution process: press conference with leaders; Martin McGuinness press conference SOT- There were very difficult meetings happened in this castle over the course of a ten-day period. And there were many, many good meetings. And all of the parties were involved in them. But some of the best meetings that took place, took place whenever the DUP and Sinn Fein and sat down directly in very, very small numbers, to discuss the best way forward. I think they could see and we could see in the course of those conversations that we were very, very seriously engaged in a process which would yield results for the people that we represent. I think what we have produced today is something that will be widely welcome and I think, as we move forward, we have to move forward in a spirit of kinship and a spirit of cooperation, recognising that we are human beings who inhabit this place and who have a particular responsibility as political leaders to make life better for the people that we represent.- The people are going through difficult times at the moment and people can be exacerbated by the length of negotiations, about the perceived inability of politicians to come to an agreement. However, we are dealing with centuries-old difficulties here, and I think that over the course of the last 10 days in the forging of this agreement, probably more so than any other agreement that has been made in recent times, we have propelled the situation forward and we have done it in a way which tackles difficult issues.- However, if we are to succeed as a government, we have to show people at grassroots level in our entire community that we have the ability to work together on the basis of equality and partnership, respecting one another. I respect absolutely the mandate that Ian Paisley had and the mandate now which Peter Robertson has. I respect Reg Empey's mandate, I respect Mark Durkan's mandate.
