Star trails over Devils Tower. Time-lapse footage of stars rotating in the night sky in spring over Devils Tower, Wyoming, USA. The stars are seen circling around Polaris (the northern pole star, just off top left) as the Earth revolves on its axis. The Devils Tower is a rock outcrop that rises nearly 400 metres above the surrounding terrain. It is thought to have formed as an igneous intrusion into sandstone rock that then eroded away.
