FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA - MAY 24: 16:27:44 the diff b/w correlation and causation - correlation is stat analysis of relationship b/w 2 diff factors. spiegel talked about correlation b/w opinions about depp, his narc personality traits, substance abuse, correlation doesn't say anything about whether the factors caused the behavior. easiest way to describe diff - if we look at issue of measles. correlation b/w being young and catching it. we know its not caused by being young, its a virus. but young children dont have immunity so they have high risk for them. its illustrated by that example. another way to put this is if 100 people in the room, talked about IPV, lets say 70 ppl with all risk factors for IPV and 30 with none, what can we say about the 70 ppl, cant say they have IPV even tho they have all the risk factors. when looking at 30 ppl without risk factors cant say whether they perpetrated IPV. so what dr spiegel was talking about say nothing about what happened int his case. 16:29:55 (Footage by Law&Crime via Getty Images)
