Upward lightning striking from a TV tower to the cloud, before its attendent thunder arrives just over ten seconds later. Sound travels at some 340 metres per second in air, while light is practically instantaneous, so every three seconds between the flash and the sound is a kilometre's distance. Filmed from a storm-chasing vehicle in the Black Hills, South Dakota, USA, in summer.
