Classical architectural torus moulding decorated with overlapping leaves and diagonal vitta bands 插畫檔

This historical monochrome engraving illustrates a section of an enriched architectural moulding, showcasing a continuous sequence of overlapping leaves or scale-like foliage. The cylindrical structural element is wrapped at regular intervals by a smooth, diagonal ribbon or band known as a vitta, which adds a rhythmic pattern to the ornamental masonry. This type of decorative enrichment represents classical architectural motifs originally developed between the 5th and 1st centuries BCE, reflecting the stone carving standards and traditional building styles perfected across ancient Greece and Rome.
