Monastery Maulbronn: Fist Tower 插畫檔
The Faust-Turm of Maulbronn Monastery, which was originally a defensive tower and was given this shape at the end of the 16th century and the ornamental half-timbered tower around 1604, is known to have a legendary history with a gruesome outcome. Allegedly Abbot Entenfuß, addicted to building and wasteful, is said to have brought the alchemist Doctor Faustus into the monastery in 1516 so that he could make gold for him and get him out of his financial need. Doctor Faustus lived in this tower until the devil took him there, according to legend. Illustration from 19th century.
