Forestry workers constructing a traditional timber log chute to correct a steep mountain torrent path 插畫檔
A compelling historical engraving documents a team of laborers working dynamically along a rugged mountain ravine to install a long, cascading chute built entirely from parallel wooden logs and timber fascines. The workers are positioned at various levels of the steep incline, using long wooden poles and hand tools to secure the structural logs into the rocky earth to stabilize the soil and control destructive alpine water runoff. This specialized bioengineering technique, aimed at watershed restoration and landslide prevention, was utilized and illustrated during the late nineteenth century, and this environmental project was carried out in France.
