THE FIRST THANKSGIVING OF THE PILGRIM FATHERS ON ARRIVAL IN AMERICA..Having survived a particularly stormy passage lasting sixty-three days, the Pilgrim Fathers landed in Massachusetts on November 11th, 1620. 插畫檔

This scene illustrates the arrival of the Pilgrim Fathers in America in November 1620. After an extremely difficult 63-day transatlantic voyage aboard the Mayflower, battered by violent storms, a small group of Puritan settlers lands on the shores of Massachusetts. As soon as they set foot on land, they gather on the beach for the first act of Thanksgiving: they thank God for their survival at sea and pray for His blessing on the new colony. A minister is seen leading the prayer with raised arm, surrounded by armed colonists (helmets, muskets) and women, in a cold and austere landscape. Meaning and moral:The scene emphasizes gratitude to God in the face of hardship, deep faith as the cornerstone of survival and the building of a new society. It symbolizes resilience, Protestant piety, and the belief in divine providence guiding the faithful. It is a foundational image of American identity: virtuous pioneers laying the foundations of a nation on faith and perseverance. ► Vintage engraving circa late 19th century. Digital restoration by Pictore. Authentic illustration free of artificial intelligence.
