Bible: Judith's prayer 插畫檔

Bible: The Book of Judith tells of the widow Judith, who saved her small town from the large army of Nebuchadnezzar by a courageous deed. The story originated in the 2nd century BC, the time of the rebellion of the Jewish Maccabees. The author takes up historical events and people from far away and combines them with fabulous narrative pieces to create a new story. He wants to encourage the Jewish people to resist the Syrian occupying power. You have to face them with cunning and cleverness. Illustration from 19th century.
