A striking artistic study showcasing a small long-haired Pomeranian lap dog sitting gracefully against a dark background 插畫檔

This nineteenth-century engraving offers a beautifully detailed canine portrait of a Pomeranian toy dog, a popular companion breed historically originating from the Pomerania region within Germany. The composition focuses entirely on the small animal sitting in a three-quarter view, highlighting its remarkably thick, flowing, and wavy coat of long hair that cascades down to its paws and partially obscures its facial features, leaving only its dark eyes and small nose visible. The masterfully executed cross-hatch shading creates a dramatic, atmospheric background of deep shadows, accentuating the soft texture of the fur and the animal's elegant posture. This print serves as an excellent historical example of domestic pet illustration, documenting the specific physical attributes and varieties of lap dogs prized among European households during this era.
