Students Cheering on Ira Warshaw in Contest

(Circa Date) (Original Caption) Making like "Cool Hand Luke," Washington University freshman, Ira Warshaw, prepares to down another hard-boiled egg, in an egg eating contest. Warshaw stuffed down 36 eggs in 50 minutes to set an "unofficial record in the Cool Hand Luke Collegiate Egg Eating Contest." The fad took its name from the movie in which Paul Newman downed 50 eggs in an hour. Warshaw, whose home is in Miami Beach, Florida, was picked for the contest by his Alpha Epsilon Fi Brothers because he weighs in at 245 lbs. and has the biggest stomach in the house.
