Japanese Anime Flag Ahead Of Indonesian Independence Day

A pirate flag from the Japanese anime, One Piece, is installed on a bamboo pole under the national flags, red and white, at a motorcycle repair shop in Indramayu, West Java province, on August 9, 2025. Ahead of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day on August 17, a number of people fly the Jolly Roger flag, which depicts bones and skulls with straw hats from the Japanese anime series One Piece, as a form of protest against President Prabowo Subianto's policies.
