NETISHYN, UKRAINE - AUGUST 7: Protective helmets for Khmelnytskyi NPP's nuclear worker, construction workers and visitors on August 7, 2024 in Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine. On August 7, 2004, 20 years ago, the Ukrainian energy system was strengthened by power unit No. 2 at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. Dedicated to the anniversary, nuclear workers awarded the best specialists for their achievements and handed over a new batch of aid (UAVS, cars, a boat, EW devices, starlinks, charging stations) to Ukrainian military. Now the the Khmelnytskyi NPP is awaiting the passing of a law that will allow the construction of new power units. Amid constant Russian shelling of critical infrastructure facilities, Ukraine needs more power capacities, and the main focus is on nuclear power, as it generates more than 50% of the country's electricity.
