Body Worlds Exhibition To Open In Berlin
BERLIN, GERMANY - APRIL 27: Workers pull on chains leading through a pulley system and supported by a truss in order to position a plastinated giraffe posed to look as if it is clinging to a tree at the Body Worlds exhibition on April 27, 2011 in Berlin, Germany. The giraffe and its support weigh 2.6 metric tonnes, leaving the workers a formidable task, as they first had to tip it horizontally in order to hoist it onto the first floor outdoor landing of the Postbank museum space, then they had to pull it back upright once they got it inside. The wing-like features on the giraffe's back are actually its outer skin and rib cage that has been cut open. The exhibition, which features human and animal corpses plastinated by Gunther von Hagens, focuses on the role of the heart. It will be open to the public at the Postbahnhof from April 27 to August 14. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)
