Courbaril Tree with fruit 照片檔

The uses of the "jatoba" tree, or Courbaril, or West Indian Locust, range from its hardwood, through to the fruit, and even the tree's leaves, bark and sap. Boiled, the bark is alleged to have anti bacterial properties, which the locals say, is explained by the simple fact that despite growing in very humid conditions, the tree is never found with fungi or other organisms growing on its bark.
