Diamond ring effect during a solar eclipse 照片檔
Danville, Indiana, USA (April 8, 2024): The eclipse of April 2024 was a total solar eclipse visible across a band covering parts of North America, from Mexico to Canada and crossing the contiguous United States. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby obscuring the Sun. During the partial eclipse, the moon’s shadow first becomes visible over the sun. As the eclipse progresses and it starts to get dark, look out for the “diamond ring effect” created by the last beams of sunlight. The sun's atmosphere will appear as an illuminated halo, and the last light still visible will look like the diamond of a giant ring.
